In A Good Mood Today

Thinking of where I started in my career a little over ten years ago. Despite having two degrees, honors, and three internships on my resume, I had the HARDEST time finding a job in Tampa, FL, where unemployment at the time was 12% during the peak of the Great Recession. All I could find was temp work. I started at 40% of my current salary and could barely hold a job at all because of personal health problems.

I eventually moved back to Philadelphia and took six months off for my health. In a new city, I managed to find work within two weeks of starting my search. Candidly, my performance was still weak though because of my health. I continued to job-hop, but was able to maintain employment for 5 years uninterrupted.

Then, the pandemic hit and I got laid off. I landed in the most toxic temp job of my career. It took me over a year to get a job offer, but when I did, it was a godsend like you'd never understand.

Now, my health problems are nearly under control, I have a freaking MASTERS degree, and I have a job at one of the most prestigious and progressive companies in the world. my journey has not been easy. It was a struggle like I never could have anticipated, especially after busting my ass in undergrad. However, I do see there has been steady upward mobility.

If you're struggling, NEVER give up. It may not be how you anticipate, but it will work out for you as long as you keep persevering ❤️
