So a few days ago I got an email that I thought was spam at first. It was from a promoter called Bridging the Music. It was asking me if I was free to play a show called MiniFest on June 28th at The Fire. I've played The Fire before but never heard of MiniFest. It also included a link to schedule an appointment to speak with the promoter.
I thought it had to be spam, a joke, or a mistake at first. I haven't played shows at all since the pandemic. I've barely played open-mics. The only musical stuff I've done are the record I'm currently working on and my Tik Tok clips, which I have about 565 following now. However, I decided to schedule an appointment to see if it was legitimate or not.
Sure enough, it was. One thing I immediately asked the promoter was "how did you find me? I'm nobody!" (Yes I actually said that.) The promoter told me he found me on Instagram using a hashtag I used and was impressed I had 344 followers. I didn't think 344 was anything considering how many other artists have, like in the thousands or millions. All the promoter said was "it's better than two!"
Surely enough, I got a spot. I'm now on the bill and overwhelmed with joy. This will be my first show since the pandemic. Personally, I'm just dumbfounded by all the amazing things that have been happening to me lately: I got asked to make a record, I had my music played on Twitch streams, and now I'm playing a festival!
This is just unreal for me. I told myself if I hadn't made it in music by 30 I'd turn my focus to my finance career. Suddenly though, things seem to be happening for me without lifting a finger. I don't know why? I'm 34, fat, awkward, balding, and playing a style of music that's been outdated for decades. So, why me?
Only time will, tell, but I encourage you to come out or tune in to the festival on June 28th, 2024. There's a link to tickets at the top of my home page. Thank you so much everybody for your undying love and support!
